I actually bought one of those. Not the doorbell thing, but a porch light with a camera. Such poor quality optics that it cannot read a car licence plate from 15 or 20 feet away. Useless. With the doorbell things at least you can make out a face.

Are they going to be used to stop porch pirates? No. Not unless the theft is worth more than a million bucks. And the the evidence will be retained under civil forfeiture.

Only a criminal would worry about what the camera shows. I understand the meaning of Big brother but when THEY come to MY home, They will Not leave and my never be seen again.
