Very few folks understand or know about the low level management engines - which are gated off from users. Going to their own design does eliminate this access (at least initially) from outside. I have never understood why the CCP used Windows (other than the rich application/utility base). They have their own OSs developed internally, however they lack a large and broad set of rich applications for use. Replacing that many machines will take 5+ years.
