Their excuse? They didn't have COVID samples, so they went with what they had.

So how many people really had COVID?

Page 40 “Since no quantified virus isolates of the 2019-nCoV were available for CDC use at the time, the test was developed and this study conducted, with assays designed for detection of the 2019-nCoV with characterized stocks ......."

Meaning they used a substitute for the COVIID virus to design the PCR test as well as validate that it works

RT-PCR only amplifies available genetic material - not exposure per say as a significant proportion already have numerous 'dead genetic lines' (from multiple naturally occurring sources) floating around in the body at any given time and RT-PCR wasn't calibrated to only isolate 2019-ncov. EDIT: Why are Countries still using RT-PCR . Didn't the FDA revoke the EUA for RT-PCR use to detect presence of ncov2019 back at the end of Dec 2021 ??.
