I'm willing to believe that some people can change, including Putin.
Now, do you think Putin's government is spying on it's own people?

I have no idea. The only info I have is from Corporate Media. We know we can't trust them. I guess the question to ask is :Why would Putin or any their Gov't spy on their own citizens? Control over others would be my guess. Paranoid, power hungry people tend to spy on others. Putin doesn't strike me as that type of person. Does he control the whole government? Probably not after learning what our own government has been doing.
I suppose spying on people would help in writing election speeches. Or aid in preventing assassinations and terrorist attacks. A very real threat for putin right now, i guess.
Is it even possible to become and stay president for 16 years without being or becoming paranoid and power hungry?

Spying on people is wrong in so many ways that the few good things that come from it hardly make a defense. I could better defend myself against the other team if I had their playbook. I could beat you at cards if there was a mirror behind you. Part of life is the challenge. Take that away and life is stale. Take away decency and morals and life is ugly. When truth and light disappear it becomes a very dark world. Hence the Dark Ages.

Good point. I am not sure. A pure love of country and selflessness would certainly be required. I see Putin with more love for his country and its history than anyone in the US government, media, University etc. save Trump and a few others.
