They never had immunity, they were always subject to being either a platform, or a publisher. What they have had is a FTC that doesn't do their fucking job and allows these companies to act as publishers, and get all the protections of a platform, with non of the downside. Started several presidents ago, and Trump fucked up putting in a pajet who is in bed with the large internet based companies. If there was someone with some balls, and sense, most of these big internet firms would have had their shit kicked in.
