I would like to point out that there is a difference between crypto in a 3rd party wallet vs one on your own computer or phone or usb.

Crypto can still be stored with a third party, just like cash can. And if you store crypto that way, then yes it has all the same vulnerabilities cash does.

The point of crypto is that it can act like online cash but without a bank. With physical cash you can only hand it to the person next to you, but with crypto it is possible to send around the world without a bank. But if you put it in the bank, then it is no better than cash in a bank.

And different crytos work differently, the central bank is definitely going to make it's own digital currency, bitcoin is nice, but will never be practical for everyday transactions to have it replace USD or cash, Its also very public. Monero is a real potential to replace USD cash, but brick and mortar places don't use it yet.

There are still to many people like the canadian truckers who thought that gofundme wasn't going to screw them over from the beginning. They don't address a problem until it slaps them in the face directly.
