The Left has been disavowing flags for a few years now (remember the Traitor Merkel?)

They are upset that a National flag has become a Nationalist symbol, because the destruction of the concept of National identity is a prerequisite of Communism

That said, some protesters have been writing slogans on theirs, which is also a no no. You never saw a Swastika with 'fuck the jew' written all over it...
