No they can't. There is a general misconception now about teachers thinking they do whatever they want. Most do what is requested and never buck authority. Others are ambitious trying to do what authority expects of them. Saying the wrong things easily gets them fired as they have so many more rules thweb any other job. This also changes per state and city.
