Not UK, but people in the Pro-Life Movement in the USA have been making similar accusations against hospices/nursing homes for years. Typically used on patients that are difficult, need complex medical care, or who the staff don't want to deal with anymore. Open the bed up for new customers. It's sick.

My dad had cancer but died from the deliberate morphine od.

I get it. He was in extreme incurable pain.

What shits me is the cowardice. Euthanizing is illegal so our society does it sneakily

You make a good point re: euthanasia. I've seen family die of cancer and it was ugly. Pain has upper limits of which we can hardly imagine, until it happens to us. I've also mercy-killed animals who were badly injured. Perhaps I would choose it for myself if I was put in that situation. Not for me to say.

I think in this case, the patients and/or their families weren't given a choice. It was just done, sneakily, like you said. Medical malpractice was ~3rd leading cause of death before covid. I wouldn't want some burnt-out nurse practitioner make that call on me. Or insurance review board.

Our society lacks the maturity and most of all the masculinity to have these deep conversations.

Like you I too put down suffering animals

For you and I are men. We do what we must
