Good luck getting back, it’s $300-$400 for a rapid test taken within 24 hours to re-enter the US.

No, it’s out of pocket and from recent articles most major international airports have set them up.
For American citizens coming home that are vaxxed they can do cheaper tests that are from 72 hours or less before hitting US customs. If you’re unvaxxed it has to be less then 24 hours.
That’s per person, and then you have to hope it’s a direct flight and no cancellations or unexpected layovers or you have to take another one if you’re no longer in the 24 or 72 time frame.
The funny thing is if you’re vaxxed and take it 48 hours before then get delayed you may end up having to pay $300-$400 for the rapid test.
