How Long Can a Tesla Keep You Warm In A Frozen Traffic Jam? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3E0t0kGeug
Quite comfortable in my EV during winter (Not a Tesla). Heated seats, heated steering wheel. Remote cabin preheat before I get in. I park outside and haven't had to scrape ice from my windows in a good four years now. I lose about 35% of range in winter. Plug it in every other day at work and its always full if I need it to be. Rougly twice per week in Winter, once per week during summer. It's a standard 230 Volt socket like you find in any living space here in Germany. Provides about 3 kW of Power, no wall box required.
Winter range is about 235 km (147 mi), Summer range is about 360 km (225 mi). It's about 20 miles of drive to work, round trip. Rarely do much driving other than that and it's been like that even with my ICE cars years ago.
Would I recommend a non Tesla EV for anyone that drives four or more hours a day for work? Not a chance. With the Tesla superchargers, it's a different story. Fast and very convenient as in no red tape attached. Drive up, plug in, wait half an hour on average and you're on your way. No card or app needed, billing is done automatically. There may be some privacy concerns and I wouldn't use them on the way to my next arson or serial murder :)
People ending up with an empty battery in a snow storm are the same ones that you find on the highway with an empty tank because inexplicably they ran out of fuel when the car was beeping and flashing like crazy when they started their trip on reserve. Have to concede, it's not as easy to pour some kWhs into your battery as it is with a gas canister.
