After deep thought and reflection, a lot of memories surfaced. They all had one common denominator, they were all large family gatherings. Aunts and Uncles, Grandparents, cousins, brothers/sisters and friends of the family. All just having the best time, cookouts, bonfires, drinks, and us kids playing games. It dawned on me that this is exactly what is being attacked. Families are fractured, brother against brother, gatherings are deemed irresponsible and deadly. My foundest memories as a child are now demonized and considered terrorist activities now.
An entire generation is being deprived of family, going to a classmates birthday sleepover, for fuck sakes knowing what your teachers face looks like. Being just 40 years old and knowing my life experience might as well be the experience of someone in the 1800s to a current elementary student. This is the saddest thing to me.
