What gives the USPO the right to open and inspect packages?

This happened a couple times and I just read about the FDA working with the USPO to confiscate packages from overseas.

Thanks for the link; yeah. I saw that. But the question is what gives them the right to open up and inspect a package. I mean, it's a Federal Crime to just open up a mailbox and stick a flyer in there.

Unless an item is mail as "First Class" and is properly sealed, it may be opened. Only CIA and the FEEBS can open your First Class mail and they do that secretly. Customs and Postal Inspectors can open any package they want to, especially one which is mailed from a non-USA address. Back in the day when my mother got Irish Sweepstakes tickets in the mail, they always came in a sealed envelope with a USA return address. The address was a confederate in the USA who got bulk tickets from Ireland then repackaged them.

Bottom line, we have no privacy or security and will have none until The Day of The Rope and we take back our Republic.
