Joe Biden’s Southern District Court pick was caught saying the Electoral College and the Senate are ‘anti-Democratic.’ Dale Ho, 44, made the shocking claim in a resurfaced video from 2018, where the nominee promoted dismantling and reforming the two governmental bodies. ‘We had obviously lots of practices that are anti-democratic, that entrench in some ways minority rule in this country,’ he said in the 2018 video. ‘I’m talking about things like, you know, the Senate, the Electoral College, and the maldistribution of political power that results from those institutions,’ he said at the 2018 National Civic Leadership Training Summit. At the same summit, Ho also cited ‘felon disenfranchisement – which takes away -voting rights from prisoners – as another ‘long-standing barrier’ that makes voting harder. This isn’t the first time Ho’s past statements have resurfaced. At his recently Senate Judiciary hearing on December 1, Republican members brought up old tweets where the nominee bashed Marsha Blackburn, Mike Lee, and Tom Cotton. Despite Ho ‘very much regret[ing] the tone’ he used on social media previously, Lee pointed to a tweet – which is no longer available to view after Ho’s Twitter account has been locked – where the nominee suggested the Republican party was trying to sway the Supreme Court to their side because the ‘Electoral College, Senate malapportionment and extreme gerrymandering’ weren’t working.
