This has been going on for a while - our electronic health records are shared with China and who knows where else. It has many more ramifications than the obvious ones. The goal is to roll all our data into one system. Estonia, for example, has an ID system where all their medical data is on their ID card - and we aren't much behind.

A friend of mine had routine blood work done last week and the lab required check-in through an automated kiosk. He said all he did was put his drivers license in, and it showed all his current insurance information which he thought was strange bc he could have taken the order to several labs - so the only way they could have know about his new insurance is if the lab has an information-sharing contract with insurance providers.

It already is. Multiple times over in fact. Obama cleared the final hurdle right before leaving office by giving every intelligence agency full access to NSA raw sigint. From there, it's had almost a decade to filter down through the thousands and thousands of government contractors throughout the military industrial complex. 1984 is already here and it's way worse than Orwell ever imagined.
