Lin Wood and Stew Peters explained it well on the Stew Peters show. Stew apparently worked in the bail industry for a time. I suggest you check out the episode to hear a more balanced explanation of what happened.
Whoever posts bail is the one who gets it back. Every time. No exceptions. Now if Lin Wood felt generous, he could donate the money to Kyle. I think he did donate some toward the legal bills, but the shit he's been going through, I think soured him on those ingrates.
At this point Kyle is set to be a wealthy man with all of the lawsuits in progress. He shouldn't get greedy.
So lin wood, knew all along that afterwards, all the money raised by through public donations, there was a reasonable expectation he would be returned the money or at least could make a claim for the money ??. Isn't this why his Mother wasn't happy with lin and the other lawyer initialy because she had no say about what the money raised could be used for ??.
Does he make any mention of returning the money back to those who donated - or is that now a case of 'they donated the money with no expectation of it being returned'.
What I remember from the interview is that the charity fund they used was already set up for a different purpose, I don't know what. Was there already money in the fund before they repurposed it? What is that money intended for? Some kind of good cause, presumably. Do charities ever give refunds? Does anybody ever ask for a refund?
Another thing I recall hearing recently is that Kyle is being coached by some lawyer guy that has it in for Lin wood for some reason.
What is clear to me is that the bail in this case was handled normally.
I recall the charity was originally set up to 'Fund Kyles defense to pay for his Legal representation', then when lin and the other guy fcked up Kyles extradition paper work (cause they weren't criminal defense lawyers and knew next to nothing about filing the necessary paperwork to prevent extradition), kyle was slapped with the $2 million bail fee. According to his mother they didn't want to use the money for his bail (at that time the fund was nowhere near $2mill) - they stipulated it was to fund their defense work and she had no say on how the money for kyles defense was able to be spent, consequently she ended up getting lumped with another shark - the David Hancock guy that's sounds like a real shitbag too.
People did not donate to and for Lin Wood. I think Lin Wood would be hard pressed to get anyone to donate money for his grifting ass

That's true. They donated to a charity that was already set up for some other purpose. Lin said he would use some of that money to bail Kyle, and he did. Now the money is back in the charity fund that it came from.
