Agreed, that was my thinking too as to how they will infect those populations. If you got spike proteins by a superspreader just with a handshake, at least now you should have the antigens produced by your natural immune system. That means you will have natural immunity to the variants as well, because natural immunity will use several target points to disable the spike protein receptors.
