As RedState reported earlier this month, Vermont was the most-vaccinated state in America, clocking in at 71.5 percent of the total population, edging out Rhode Island at 71.2 percent and Connecticut at 70.9 percent. Vermont’s lock on the top spot hasn’t changed, as reported by ABC News on Friday, with a current COVID vaccination rate of almost 72 percent.

Vermont vaccination rate: 71.9%

To answer the author's question:

How does that explain the surge in Vermont? I’m not an “emerging and infectious diseases” expert — hell, I’m not even Anthony Fauci — but given that Vermont has the highest vaccination rate in the country, wouldn’t the good doctor’s explanation suggest that states with lower vaccination rates would, theoretically, fall victim to delta surge rates greater than those of Bernie’s state?

Answer: no.

Immunity is compromised of 2 things:

Acquired immunity (vaccines) Natural immunity (you got exposed and developed the immunity)

What's missing from those vaccination numbers are the antibody numbers (seroprevalence ). That's the only real measure.

And reading further in the article, I'm correct:

Vermont has one of the lowest levels nationwide of residents who have developed natural immunity to the virus, noted ABC News, which, I presume is the “fault” of Vermont having the highest percentage of vaccinated residents in the country.

As we know, Rhode Island and Vermont (among others) did not get hit very hard during the summer months. Meaning, unless they have a true immunity rate over 90%, they are going to get hit hard. States that got hit harder earlier in the year are better protected from surges.

Sweden's approach was the best approach: let it hit hard and fast as quickly as possibly to reach heard immunity faster saving lives in the long run.

Edit - Vaccines are only one of many tools. They are not a silver bullet. I'm just guessing (I have limited data to support this but data does exists that supports this) but a healthy diet, exercise, and a not being a fatass are better protective measures than the vaccines. The vaccines are for the elderly and the weak/vulnerable.

This is exactly right. Locking people down, wearing masks, quarantining healthy people, isolating children, isolating young and healthy people who could’ve helped us cycle through this virus was the worst thing we could’ve done. Even taking into account that they inflated the numbers, COVID-19 was very clearly worse than the average seasonal flu virus. But not much. It didn’t have to be this way. Absolutely everything the government did was the wrong thing to do.

Even down to the way they handled nursing homes, they fumbled this thing, on purpose many believe for good reason, and made everything worse.

There is a separate respiratory illness going around Public schools right now. For two reasons, kids have no immune systems and wearing masks is harming them. Absolutely every single thing they did backfired. Goddamn them.

Also the fact vaccine prevents you from developing true immunity from covid... body relies on shitty vax antibodies even if real infection occurs.

Also vax lowers t8 killer cells, (gives you aids, but different than HIV aids) part of your innate immunity which stops cancer growth, general infections, ect... I hear and have had vaxed people close to me suddenly have old problems come back, cancer, shingles ect.
