CNN sent a camera crew to film a family in Afghanistan selling their 9-year-old daughter to an old pedophile for $2000. The crew not only interviewed the family and knew that they were selling her to buy rice and flour, but they filmed the entire transaction–including the girl being dragged off while resisting and put in a car. The crew that works for a global network worth billions of dollars did not offer to buy the family food so they didn’t have to sell their daughter. They just watched a child being sold into some kind of sex slavery as a “wife.”

The cameras roll as the child applies makeup in preparation for her new “husband.” The father says he has “no choice” but to sell his daughter for food since the Taliban takeover dried up the humanitarian aid he was receiving. The cameras roll as an old man comes to collect his purchase and drags her away as she struggles. No one does anything. The child disappears into the Afghanistan desert as the voiceover says, “The child’s fate has been sealed.”

If you were working on a film crew, would you have $2000 in your pocket to pay the guy? And you would be prepared to try to smuggle her out of her country? And then, if that worked, you would be guilty of buying a child and trafficking her.

Took a couple days at least to set up the whole interview, arranging everything. They knew about the arrangement in advance and had a couple of days - I think someone could hit the fucking ATM.

Nah. I'm sure a quick call to Head office for extra expenses incurred would easily cover $2000 - i mean how much is their total bill already - airfares, hotel accommodation, travel insurance, out of pocket money for their 'hired help/driver/ security' they always seem to have. There is probably at minimum 2 or 3 CNN employees on that shoot , the idea that they couldn't find $2 000 among themselves at a pinch is a bit fanciful. To add, they don't need to smuggle her out either . Organise Parental consent to allow them primary Care-giver status for her 'holiday to the states' for educational opportunities or however they want to frame it. It's not like the Father is wholly disagreeable to the deal he's a willing active on seller of his 'commodity' for finacial gain .. Heck even place her in some lame NGO orphanage or similar while sorting out the details for her passport/ visa etc. It's CNN man , they can pull any strings if they need too ....
