For Example: US Marines in Okinawa are a major detterent for a Commie attack on Taiwan. In order for China to successfully invade Taiwan they need to also takeover or take out the southern Japanese islands to include Okinawa. The presence of US Marines and a Major Airbase on Okinawa stands squarely in the way of the Chicom plans.
