36-year old Benjamin Anthony Varela was arrested on Thursday, and will face charges of first-degree assault while armed with a deadly weapon. Journalist Andy Ngo broke news of the arrest on Monday
He used the deadly weapon to commit the “assault”.
The shooting allegedly occurred after security forces for a medical freedom protest fought back against Antifa militants seeking to shut down the demonstration, with Varela turning around and shooting five rounds at the protestors. Jessica Lynn O’Connor, Varela’s girlfriend, is also accused of appearing at the protest.
