As I've stated before, I own a small commercial trucking business. We just received our annual Insurance renewal premium (Progressive) for a fleet of 5 tractors and 5 trailers, our premium was raised from $153,000 a year to $212,700. We have a loss run for 2020/2021 of $0 meaning they have not paid out on ANY claims. Our drivers have not received any violations and we have ZERO citations. Something is brewing here....these rates, along with steadily rising fuel prices, commercial trucking fees, taxes etc. are making it IMPOSSIBLE to succeed in the freight hauling business. Of course we are shopping it around but my concern is this is not an isolated incident.

We average about $43,000 gross a week! Trust me, after paying fuel ( about $1200-$1,800 per truck/wk.) I pay my drivers between 27%-32% based on their truck gross. Then you have trailer costs, maintenance is $2,200 a week. We also pay a dispatcher 3% to book loads and 2% to factor the loads. Trust me when I tell you, at the end of the month there isn't much left over!

Still congrats. You're keeping people employed, helping their families, and hopefully making enough to keep yourself afloat.

Insurance is a scam - always has been. They help a few and scam the many. Shopping around will hopefully help.

I hear you. I had a bunch of techs work for me for a bunch of years. The upside of the covid thing and downsizing has been realizing the stress is not worth it.

This is the tragedy going on with our young communists pushing that ideology. They have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA just how fucking difficult it is to start a business and operate it.

Yeah, some business owners are super rich, but most of them are super stressed and over worked even if they do make a decent living. For the rest of the busines owners, they merely bought their own job.
