I follow alot of space and astronomy sites and this site is pretty nice. I am amazed at the level of detail you can get here. Its basic and not as tight as another site I use, but its a terrific way to instruct students about space junk and orbital satellite groups.

What all do you think about Starlink? Its massive and its quite incredible that it took only 1-3 years to build (post manufacture) and achieve mission orbit.

Do you think it will be the jump into a new comm network, or is it something else entirely?

Its part of Operation Warp speed and GeoSat 6 (AEHF6). The entire global military COMMS network was replaced, at the same time starlink was installed, sometimes running paralell delivery payloads from SpaceX. Done ahead of time and under budget, the Starlink site is also nice and waiting to go. Its most likely and alternate COMM vehicle and data transfer system. We will find out very soon. No matter what it is the current administration does not have the keys to it. Notice it was done prior to elections. ULA Atlas V was sent from CC Florida in offset delivery of SpaceX.
