of course they knew what was coming. if they had intended all those weapons to be given to the afghanis to defend the place they would have had a full handing over ceremony just like what happens every other time someone wants to show off peaceful victories. they could hardly hand over the gear to the taliban itself so what do you do? drop it and run knowing who was going to come after what. thing is tho, both sides of that conflict were set up by the US in the first place, both the government and the anti-government side so i can only presume these days that theyre ultimately controlled by a different 3 letter agency each.
