What is "refined" in today's culture considering how bizarre and perverted it is? Tho' from hanging out with a "cultured" friend, i realize culture is all the stuff that the leisure class does. Concerts, plays, etc. Too "rich" for my taste. Most "unsophisticated" folks do not have the time or interest in that. Classical art, music, etc can be a treat, but look at what now poses and is lauded as "art" and "music". Point made. Or how about this definition: Deprived of native or original simplicity. Thus the old wisdom and traditions are put to death. Simple and clean living is looked at with derision. The knowledge to know how to get through thick and thin is replaced by convenience and softening comfort. As for the elites, aint one of them prolly could build and start a fire.
