I am thinking she was one of the gov's detained at the Pentagon. I heard somewhere that 32 gov's were called to the Pentagon and six were detained.

Does this mean, they changed the law, in which this governor, or any governor in the future, no longer has absolute authority to declare a medical emergency in perpetuity? What checks and balances are there?

Yes. She was using the old 1945 law that allowed her appointed health secretary to continue to issue lockdowns. This law is now repealed. Her and future governors of Michigan will be limited to a 30 day emergency declaration. It can only be extended after 30 days with the approval of the legislature.
