Because I'm now a mod, I've made some changes to the sidebar:

  • I removed a section called QProofs that linked to three links that do not work.
  • I removed the rule about "No posts that ask questions" because that rule seemed silly to me, and in the previous rules post that was already stated to be no longer in effect.
  • I added "Free debate is allowed and encouraged as long as it is civil" to "No Anti-Q or Anti-Tump bashing" to go along with the rule and clarification in the previous rule post. The rule distinguishes between good faith criticism and constructive criticism against bad faith criticism, destructive criticism and ad hominem, hence why "bashing" is what the rule is against and not merely anti-Q or anti-Trump posts generally.
  • I removed " Posts about other users are not allowed. (In most cases)" because the civility rule covers call-out posts because call-outs in most cases are for unneeded drama.
  • I added "no pornography" but not the "obscene language" part because the civility rule makes that somewhat redundant.
  • I won't add "no bashing Moderators or Janitors" or "no advocacy for violence" because the former is covered by the civility rule (and the rule itself sounds as though I'm asking for extra manners towards myself) and the latter is in the TOS and thus a site-wide rule.

To be clear, the rules have changed little, and have been re-written in a different place.

Are we selectively enforcing the downvoting rule?

It's more of a cultural norm around downvoting that I remind people of now and again.

It doesn’t bother me except that rules being applied unevenly does bother me. I’m sure you’ve got a lot to do, and don’t have time to babysit, but I figured I would put that into the ether anyway.

Are you high enough of a level that you can see who downvotes you? One of them tripped the algorithm like you, so I assume he's going for a second round. I've noticed you've become much more reasonable, so I'm hoping you understand how to respectfully initiate the conversation yourself, but I could if needed.
