Their script says "we are not trying to sell you something" but the definition of solicit is VERB: 'ask for or try to obtain (something) from someone'. 'No Soliciting' isn't limited to door to door salesmen it includes anyone asking for information.

There is a difference between dictionary definition and legal definition. Your State Laws will define what constitutes "soliciting". In Michigan it is related to sales so signature gathering or "informative" visitors would not be "soliciting" according to the Law. However they would be Trespassing if proper "no Trespassing" signs are posted. You won't get much satisfaction from a simple home deopt no trespassing sign. Find the ones that say "legal notice" and cites the laws and applicable fines or "land use fees"
