It draws up all those Hollywood movie depictions of evil villains with supernatural powers, satanic rituals involving lots of burning candles, pentagrams drawn on the walls and floors, and incantations or spell-casting intended to raise demonic powers, etc.

The catchphrase itself is a type of spell-casting. All witchcraft and Satanism is based on psychology and illusion. Confusion is part of the process.
