Holy sheeet. Batteries are the curse of the modern age. I take it that leg power is out of the question. What type of battery is it (Volts and Ampere rating, size)? Can, say, a motorcycle battery, motor scooter battery be used or converted? If I remember correctly, they are 6 V.
Leg power will work, but mine have gotten pretty skinny and weak over the last decade and the bike is a bit of a monster to move on it's own without peddle-assist from the motor and with extra gear loading it down. At least there aren't a lot of hills on the route I'm taking so if I have to peddle I can still do that.
I have to use the battery made for the bike because of how it mounts onto it.

I'm in the Fraser Valley, which is a wide flat delta of land where the Fraser River flows out into the ocean. The highway I'm taking skirts the mountains on the north side, going from Vancouver at the westernmost part to Hope, BC, where it ends (rad flag on Google image below).
