The Chinese are not like our politicians: They don't plan in election cycles, they plan in generations instead. They know their grandsons will sit at the center of the Belt and Road trading network and nothing can stop that. All they have to do is to wait and to make sure there will be no sea blockade and that there are enough nuclear warheads for mutual assured destruction.
