I pulled all my money out of the bank last October and only pay cash for things. I also don't carry a phone. They can tell if you're in a store using GPS to track you, and can even tell if you make a purchase by seeing how close you're standing to the cashier and if it's just before you leave. The location and time can be matched to the store's data to figure out how much you spent and what you bought.
