I think by legal definition they are full auto, grenade launchers etc...

By common sense definition you can assault anyone with just about anything.

By leftist definition an assault weapon is anything you can use to defend yourself against them. Therefore an AR15 in your hands is an assault weapon. In their hands an AR 15 is a legitimate tool.
