Ah but there's Deborah, Miriam, Huldah, Anna, Rahab, Lydia, Ester, Mary of Bethany, Deacon Phoebe, Priscilla and...
These women prove the Baptist Doctrine is man-made. The Bible teaches the opposite.
Taking the Scripture out of context causes confusion when other Scripture refutes the man-made interpretation.
There is a whole history behind why Paul set up that Church with male leaders. Remember, he stayed in Lydia's house when attending HER Church. It also has to do with a specific situation going on as supported by the Scripture surrounding these passages in Corinthians.
Much to learn about this subject. If you are interested, use the Bible as your guide and the context of who the audience is and what their customs are. This helps to figure out passages that appear to conflict.
Lastly, I think, if you like the man-made Doctrine in your Church's Denomination it's okay, but you should know what is in the Bible regarding the Doctrine you are putting yourself under.
I like the Jefferson Bible where it says:
Were our State a pure democracy . . . there would yet be excluded from their deliberations . . . women, who, to prevent depravation of morals and ambiguity of issue, should not mix promiscuously in the public meetings of men."
Letter from Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval (Sept. 5, 1816), in 10 Writings of Thomas Jefferson 45-46, n. 1 (P. Ford ed. 1899).
How generous of them.
Women have different strengths than men. Those who want to upend them are nihilists ans misanthropes. Never twain the two overlap or usurp the other. Jefferson and others at the time were familiar with the works of Thomas Aquinas. They too made the same observations of Laws of Nature. Nature provides the answers if we would take the time to observe the immutable Order our Creator has put forth. Jefferson observed men are distracted by the presence of women in the same room. In fact, men treat women much differently than they do other men. We can observe this in the history of jurisprudence; in the court rulings in not only in America, but all over the world. There is a relevant explanation called the 'Chivalry Hypothesis'. It explains why women who commit the same crimes as men get treated differently by the Judges and have far less sentences. It explains the decisions made in business meetings and the seats of governance. Whether it is in the board room or in the church, men treat women differently. Men discriminate against other males, but they are less likely with women. Even our instincts under duress are very different. Males react with a 'fight or flight' reaction under stress. Dr. Myer-Levy found that women do not react to stress the same way as men. Instead, she found that it is a 'Tend and Befriend' reaction to stress. A completely different reflexive strategy.
“But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.” -- 1 Timothy 2:12
“So I counsel younger widows to marry, to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander.” -- 1 Timothy 5:14
“Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.” -- Titus 2:3-5
“Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid gain.” -- 1 Timothy 3:8
Many women who are searching passages to justify a female preacher, but you will never find any women preachers in the Bible. How about Priscilla and Phoebe? These Godly women helped advance God’s kingdom, but there is nowhere in Scripture where it says that either of them pastored a church. That doesn’t mean that they can’t witness to others. That doesn’t mean that they can’t teach children. That doesn’t mean that they can’t teach other women. Priscilla and her husband did teach someone the way of God more accurately in their home. Did they contradict Scripture? No.
Phoebe was not a deaconesses which contradicts 1 timothy 3:8. Women were great helpers in the church, but never did they serve in positions of spiritual teaching authority in the church.
“He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.” -- Acts 18:26
“I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church at Cenchreae.” -- Romans 16:1
“Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.” -- Philippians 4:3
And when women are pastors and heads of the church, Isaiah warns us:
“My people—infants are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, your guides mislead you and they have swallowed up the course of your paths.” -- Isaiah 3:12
