It's one thing to have check points when people are shooting at you it's a whole other thing when people are attacking you in your own country. Just like in the Revolutionary war you don't fight the soldiers you take out the leadership and communications.
You're probably not getting anywhere near "leadership and communications" without being decimated, that's the problem with that.
One would go after the low hanging fruit, sympathizers since they are everywhere completely unprotected.
They are provoked into compromising their own safety to protect them, which really cannot be done. Then they are easily dispatched from all sides. An initial action to lure them in, then ambush with a superior force and crucify them.
One does not get to fight the heavyweight champ without first moving through the ranks. A large animal can be eaten by a smaller one in manageable bites.
If you're obeying the orders of communists as a professional soldier, you fucked up. Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not they are aligned with the communists or shutting down the communists. In that case, let them do their job.
