Unlike the Kennedy's, they haven't killed Trump or any of his family members yet, so I'd say he was pretty smart. He got out of it alive, and will probably stay that way if he stays out. Smarter than Trump is difficult on a good day, but more agreeable than Trump is a doable thing. The people are in a fuck you kind of mood, and Trump fits that perfectly... so he is easily electable. That doesn't matter much if the establishment won't count the vote. You could say there is a stalemate. The Republicans need someone electable by the Trump voters, and also agreeable for the establishment. That may be why Pompao is still in there.
