That’s exactly it. But you know what? We have to be prepared for arguments like that and deflate them. He left so much meat on the bone that I see it as a missed opportunity to REALLY hammer it home. For example, in this video, he showed how there was an increase in cases after the mask mandates, but conveniently left out the fact that the increases started with the natural curve of the usual flu season - when cases of your typical virus always spike. His point is incredibly valid, we all know this thing has been exaggerated to the point of absurdity. But he has to understand the need for apples to apples comparisons. Show more evidence that the increases in supposed Covid cases are countered by more examples of states where cases did not spike up quite as high. He gave Wyoming. He compared Wyoming to Montana. Only one example. Notice that Wyoming had a spike also, around the same time, but less extreme. There are a number of factors that could account for that. He didn’t do that, did not explore it, did not explain it, did not address it. We need to be smarter here. What are the number of cases of the seasonal flu virus during that same timeframe in a typical year? Compare them. Compare similar states. Compare similar populations. All he did was show that cases weren’t squashed by masks, that’s a very valid and important point. But he left so many rhetorical holes for naysayers to poke, and didn’t need to leave them there. His overall point that mask cannot defeat a virus is extremely important and one that we always understood until the year 2019/20. Again, very important point, but no one’s going to pay attention to it when it’s presented like this. Or at least it won’t penetrate the people who still need to be convinced. Preaching to the choir is almost counterproductive at this point.
