Anaphylaxis is one of several adverse reactions people are having. People that have a history of severe allergies are at greater risk. If you dont have an epipen, but you think you might develop anaphylaxis, a decent replacement is an OTC epinephrine or racemic epinephrine inhaler like Primatene Mist. They are pretty cheap and easy to get. I read that about 20 inhalations is appropriate if you think you are having an anaphylactic event. Epinephrine is not great for people with heart conditions FYI. But it might be somethig to keep in the first aid kit.
