Published on Apr 5, 2021 After the catalytic converter was stolen from my 2005 Honda Element, I decided to so some research on where these stolen catalytic converters end up. I learned some interesting things.

In addition to discussing where catalytic converters go after they are stolen, I also talk about why catalytic converters are being stolen in the first place. You might be surprised about how much they’re really worth.

Shit. Back in the day i hoped people stole my catalytic converters. Made it so i didnt have to get under there and take em out myself.

Catalytic Converters wouldn't be needed if aerosol gas wasn't used as the intake for internal combustion engines. In Chemistry 101 students learn that a dry vapor has a 100% burn efficiency. If used, it would dramatically drop the carbon emission well below what the best catalytic converters can achieve. Sadly, automobiles still use aerosol droplets for combustion in internal combustion engines (ICE) and as a result have a 15-18% burn efficiency. Less the catalytic converter, 82 to 85% of it is not burned and become the carbon emissions. Too many people were finding out they could dramatically improve their gas mileage by 10 to 20 fold. The Pogue carburetor was one of those carburetors that turned the liquid gas into a dry vapor. The US Army contracted with Charles Nelson Pogue and bought many of his carburetors. Pogue went overnight from impoverished inventor to the manager of a successful factory making oil filters for the motor industry. His invention caused such shock waves through the stock market, that the US and Canadian governments both stepped in and applied pressure to stifle him.

In the opening months of 1936, stock exchange offices and brokers were swamped with orders to dump all oil stock immediately. Shortly later, Ethyl gasoline was developed adding lead to the mixture that prevented the fuel from being converted to a dry vapor gasoline and being burned. The lead would 'gum' the Pogue Carburetor rendering it useless. Soon all the gas stations across Canada and America were advertising Ethyl gasoline for eliminating the 'ping' in your engine. It's true that ethyl gasoline removed the 'ping' that was common to vehicles in those days. However, it had more to do with partial vaporization of liquid gas as a result of a hot engine than anything else. The internal combustion engine needed to be modified allowing a larger flow of water to cool the engine. So, engines were designed to run cooler to avoid the pre-firing or 'pinging' caused by an undesirable vaporized gas.

The Pogue Carburetor worked well with any internal combustion engine because the liquid gas was vaporized in the carburetor itself. If you want to read more about the Pogue carburetor and other similar designs, this is a pretty.

It's a shame that all these technologies are at our very finger tips. but we are denied them by ugly greedy despots and forced to live in a worsening Idiocracy.

Thanks for the fun read. So is true and some os not. They started using lead in gas in 1923..

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=when+was+lead+first+put+in+gasoline&t=fpas&ia=web

But not to say that we can't do better.

"They started using lead in gas in 1923.."

Yes, I used the word 'developed'. I should have used the word 'invested' or 'heavily invested' in. If I recall Ethylene was a company based out of Virginia. Their technology did help reduce 'pinging' in vehicles. And this was a big problem with cars that ran 'hot' after running long distances. The Pogue carburetor eliminated this and used the 'heat' from the engine to vaporize the liquid gas. All that was required was to retard the timing on the distributor as it would ignite earlier in the firing cycle. Ethylene gas having lead in it didn't work in the Pogue Carburetor. Interesting, I still remember the commercials for Ethyl gasoline. The company really took off after 1936.

I remember I loved the smell of Ethyl gasoline.

Ahhh, memories ;)

Tens of thousands of small modern machine shops across the country have the ability to replicate any carburetor technology from the 1930s.

Many owners of those shops are entrepreneurs fascinated with engineering challenges and creative advancement of technology in just about any field.

I can’t rationalize a plausible scenario where this technology has been suppressed, unexplored, undeveloped for 90 years, in spite of info and ‘examples’ (Garlits) being available to the public.

The brilliant, creative passion inspired by the competitive automotive segment alone would ensure exploitation. Smokey would have been all over this.

If one thinks about it, outside of communication, there is no 'real' technological advancement in our lives. Despite what people believe, we haven't actually advanced technologically. When the wheel becomes a relic of history as the mule and horse has for transportation, then I'll change my mind. The so-called technology we are seeing is all communication technology. Sounds great doesn't it? Truth be told -- is that it BENEFITS the POLICE STATE far more than it ever did for us individually. I don't even use a Smart phone or a cell phone. It is a commodity that's simply NOT needed.

Look at automobiles. They STILL get the same gas mileage as cars did back in the 1930s. One thing that has changed has been our ability to work on our own cars. It's gotten to be very 'complicated', if you know what I mean. Everything is controlled by a computer. It's another communication device. 90-95% of the issues with cars today are the computers and sensors. The computers are spy devices. You must have special communication devices to talk to the computers on-board a car to work on it. If I had a 1966 Mustang or a 1956 Willy's Jeep, all I need to fix it is some wrenches and screwdrivers. We are living in an insane world when I have to take my car into the shop because the sensor on the gas cap has become defective. These worthless computerized appliances are a POS. These computerized dishwashers don't clean the dishes. I'm forced to wash the dishes (Not rinsing) before loading them in the dishwasher. If I have to do that, WTF? I might as well do it the old fashion way using a sink of soapy water and a dish towel. The same can be said of computerized clothes dryers that don't dry the clothes and need frequent repair to the computer-sensor system. The old mechanical washer/dryers are far better than the POS computerized ones. I don't need a sensor to tell me my clothes are dry. I can simply open the door and touch the clothes. The 'moisture' sensors don't come close to what I can do visually and by touch. It's insane idiocy and the technology is not advancing our lives.

So where are we REALLY with advancements in technology? I think we are devolving toward an Idiocracy. When I see kids with smart phones waiting for the school bus unaware they're standing in the street, I am utterly shocked by this. Cattle have more sense than these kids with smart phones. What ever happened to the much touted future home that is independently powered and off-the-grid? Well, I'll TELL YOU where its at. It NOT going to happen because ALL of the technology we are seeing is for CONTROLLING us and SPYING on us. This includes keeping us dependent on the electrical/gas power grid. The only technology that we are going to see is technology for controlling us.

Next thing we'll see, and its well on its way is 'vehicle-free' streets, in which only bicycles and walking is permitted. These 'green zones' block off increasingly large areas, in which motorized traffic is diverted and must detour several blocks to get to their final destination. Like I said, we the people, are moving technologically more toward being tagged herd animals than advancing toward liberty and individual freedom.

If one thinks about it, outside of communication, there is no 'real' technological advancement in our lives.

Indeed. If one thinks about it, modern day rockets are no further advanced than those of the 1920s.

For that matter, the jet fighters of the 1920s were actually more reliable than the computer controlled jet fighters in our current Air Force inventory.

And it’s not just limited to aircraft. Hip replacement technology and pace-maker technology have not advanced one iota since the first half of the 20th century.

You are an astute observer of technology to realize these truths.

[–] 0 pt

Yes, I have seen this quixotic 'play' out before when I was much younger, but I am much older now and have seen too many times new technology simply disappear forever from the public forum. It's always the same story.

If you are wondering about this, read up on the Invention Secrecy Act, then become familiar with 35 U.S.C. 181; the so-called Secrecy of Certain Inventions and Withholding of Patent.

It's mind blowing how inventions are disappeared (confiscated) and then moth-balled in some unknown warehouse vault. It's all to prevent upheaval from the existing (controlled) infrastructure as it relates to national security. In other words, crony capitalists (oil and finance) along with the masters of the universe ARE the existing infrastructure. Whether we ever see it in our life time, these Acts and Codes need to be overhauled or even rescinded.

We need to clean house at the U.S. Patent office where ongoing corruption occurs and the Rothschild banking cartel has gained complete control of it. I am not exaggerating this either.

Did you know in 1971, energy conversion systems were subject to review and possible restriction if they offered conversion efficiencies “in excess of 70-80%.” How much has changed from that time to the present? Automobiles today still get approximately the same MPG as in the 1930s. The only technology that has drastically changed are the computers; so-called "Smart" technology, which is really a euphemism for a Spy Device.

If a dry vapor provides a 100 percent burn rate, why do fuel injection systems still make use of the same aerosol spray concept of liquid petro as back in the 1920s?

Why does the U.S. Patent office use a provision allowing them to slap a "national security" gag order on a patent application? Many energy technologies have disappeared through this means.

There were an accumulation of 5,579 invention secrecy orders in effect at the end of fiscal year 2015. In that year alone there were 95 new secrecy orders imposed. Only 36 prior orders have ever been rescinded.

What is the total number today?

If you really believe we already have the best technology available, you live in a world where the oxen drawn cart is incontrovertibly the best driver-less technology that can found.

Holy shit that’s good information. I tip my hat to you.

Thanks, There's more. Read my comment below. This explains why new technology is not being released.

If used, it would dramatically drop the carbon emission well below what the best catalytic converters can achieve.

Except catalytic converters have NOTHING to do with carbon emissions.

[–] 0 pt

Okay, educate me. I used 'carbon emissions' loosely. I should have used the term 'pollutants'. Nevertheless, I'm interested.

3-500 local DFW Tx,Tundra's are being hammered as they have 4 cats that are very easy to access. Many others have high value cats as well.

great.

lets advertise more that cats are valueable.

[–] 0 pt

Really? The Mexicans where I live work their asses off. Generally doing jobs blacks and whites aren’t willing to do.

You’re talking about crime, so that’s a totally different matter I guesss, but I’ve always been impressed with their work ethic.

Thieves dont invest in labor

[–] 1 pt

Your local gypsies will remove those and take them to a scrap yard for sale.

[–] 0 pt

Very few scrap yards take them anymore.

Less hassle for the yards. The police reports and new regulations are addressing the issue of copper theft, and cat theft pretty well here in AZ.

Big family business that's why I know.

Missouri. Wide open. I work at one in Illinois. Right across the river. A lot of them go out of the state to get them or bring them from out of the state.

[–] 0 pt

Either that or sell the cats to science. Gotta make money somehow.

Alright feline aficionados, jus kidding. (frantic cat meows in the background)

Just tell us where they wind up.

I don’t have time for some click farming video bullshit.
