Watch closely those attempting to sell you the lie that removing 230 protections will increase free speech. Removing section 230 protections means that alt-tech will be bankrupted by constant lawsuits and only BigTech will survive.

The “Repeal Section 230” Narrative is Being Pushed by Silicon Valley, Don’t Fall For It (news.gab.com)m - Andrew Torba of Gab.com

Question the motives of those calling for the repeal of section 230.

This is what happened when Trump signed FOSTA:

Craigslist personals removed because of potential liabilities introduced via the passage of FOSTA (duckduckgo.com)

And that was just one exception punched into section 230. FOSTA said that section 230 protections do not apply in cases of sex trafficking. It means that any site that hosts content that hosts content by 3rd parties that facilitated sex trafficking are NOT protected from lawsuits and prosecution. Because of this, Craigslist removed its personal ads section.

Now think about what happens to the internet when congress starts fucking with 230 or repeals it altogether?

Exactly.

If there are no civil protections for unmoderated content, then all content will be moderated before being allowed on a platform. And the platform will moderate extremely conservative to avoid the potential for lawsuit. Platforms will exclusively only allow pre approved content creators to post anything. Competition for the big platforms will be plagued by frivolous lawsuits.
