I don't know about the cannibalism, but I understand that they warred against other tribes. However, if we are going to judge them today based on what happened hundreds of years ago, how is that different from blaming our ancestors for slavery? Do you also believe in reparation to blacks, even though none of us (and most of our ancestors) did not own slaves?
First Nations people contributed a lot to many thinks we take for granted today, such as agricultural methods. There's a very good called "Indian Givers" that you might enjoy reading.
Lastly, what occurred with First Nations people was very similar to what's happening today: pandemics, lies, land seizure, and "forced" government dependency.
