there are actually four Marines who rotate in half hour shifts, standing sentry whenever the President is in the West Wing.
I'm sure one could dig deeper for official documents stating this is fact in a Marine handbook somewhere. It's also a very common tradition for high ranking people to have 24 hour guards.

Lower floor and top right window with lights on. The White House has been primarily dark night and day since Jan 20th. Flag at half staff. Odd steam coming out of the roof. There was a lot of odd steam to the left of the WH before I went to sleep.
Most of the pressers, etc. are at the State Dept. I believe. It is outside the wire.
I saw a RUMINT this past weekend that Xiden wanted POC front and center during his campaign because it was good for optics. Now that he's pResident, he doesn't want them anywhere around.
Maybe today's Marine was a POC and he had them dismissed !
