Hack the Texas grid or not? That other story line sounds to pretty for some reason.

So your narrative is that a multi billion dollar company is just dumb, and not controlled? I'm not attacking you. Just asking if that's what you believe.

First of all, ERCOT is not a multi-billion dollar company, its a 501c4 (aka "social welfare agency"). Nominally it behaves as a regulatory entity:

Secondly, yes, they are that dumb. I am an exec at an energy company and we have dozens of people that go to regulatory meetings at every ISO/RTO, including ERCOT. Their lack of forethought here, and over-reliance on renewables, has been an outstanding concern.

Ok. Thanks for your opinion.

FWIW, its an opinion cemented in reality and educated by long-standing facts on the ground by those involved and in the know. Unlike the crazies on here that think Biden controls the weather and this is revenge for Texas talking about secession. I mean, come on.

I certainly don't disagree that security and safety of the grid is indeed a legit concern...whether its hacking or physical sabotage...by China or otherwise. And the NERC CIP program (among others) is all about preventing things like that. But hacking is not what caused the disaster in Texas over the past week.
