Patriot, Dawes Roll is massive and a long search. here is a link that may help you. If you have their names and they enrolled you can find it quickly, , and you can try the US Census for the reservation they were on if you know the reservation and time frame along with the name, be prepared because sometimes the names were not spelled the same as today. Wishing you success in your search.
Thanks. I will let my aunt do that as she is more organized. She kept all the old photos and stuff when Grandma died. She kept everything from both my Grandpa's side of the family and Grandma's.
no Thanks needed, if she finds no success with the Cherokee in that search, stay at this link and let her try all tribes. I just remembered this, it has been over 12 years ago when I heard about this, back then they did Govt work, everyone who lives here is Cherokee, and who lives there is from this tribe, so many think they are Cherokee or other affiliations and find the truth to the correct affiliation this way, That's Govt work for you. and sometimes they misspelled the names wrong. so be preprared, you can confirm with DOB and such.
True. The only thing I know is what Grandma told me about Great Great Grandma being Cherokee. As for any documented proof, no, nothing.
Sure, you could see the evidence of being Native American in Great Grandma's skin tone which was in her youth a very even tone of light tan with some facial structure that was Native American. Like, in skin tone and some facial features she resembled her mother, while in body structure she more closely resembled her father.
The photo of Great Great Grandma shows her with her blended family consisting of children from her first and second Irish husbands. She was seated so I can't guess her height but it doesn't seem to be as much as either her daughter Helen (Great Grandma) or her husband. As for the Irish Husband of Great Great Grandma he looked in his expressions to be a stable relatively peaceful and contented man. His most striking features were being very slender and tall with a handsome hawklike face prominent nose much like Great Great Grandma who appeared much darker than Great Grandma Helen in the photos.
I'm sure my aunt has more information and would love a resource as she knows the names better.
