I already think I know where these doors are in Norco. It would be the east end of the old Naval Weapons Depot. I’ve never given much thought to it. I don’t know if any part of the old weapons depot is still functioning but they turned a significant part of that facility into two separate CA State Prisons, one for women and one for men.
Oh, right. I remember fresh out of high school I joined a remote control airplane club that was allowed to go on that base. I went off our designated route for entry and exit one night and it's surprising how quickly an MP in a jeep showed up to escort me back to where I belonged. Politely of course.
I had another talk last night with my friend and he recalled our conversation of a couple years back very accurately.
Basically he's saying that in 1990's at some point he was making deliveries to the door barrier of what looked to be an underground passageway for trucks. He had to sign a NDA with criminal penalties for breaching the agreement. The deliveries were of a carbon fiber material of some sort. He'd just drive up in his truck and drop off a load and then leave.
He says he hasn't been by the location but if it hasn't changed it should be visible from 6th street in Norco. He said it doesn't appear to be part of the Naval base due to the distance from that base. The gateway or doors are butted up into the hills.
So that's his recollection of what he saw and did there.
Now, I go to google maps and at the junction of 6th and Crestview dr. there's an area that's tagged as Ingalls Park. I'm gonna call bullshit on the idea it's an actual park. I see one baseball diamond and some bleachers cut into the side of the hill. It looks like it's not even in use.
There are two huge open sided structures with what looks like fairly new steel roofing. Behind these east of Crestview there's a steep bank that looks to have been recently worked over with earth moving machines, carefully sloped and cleaned of any old vegetation. Any sign of a portal there is just not visible but the deliberately graded, freshly worked top soil arouses my interest. It's not just bulldozed over and left to let nature take it's course, it's got that look as if someone was carefully grading and smoothing out the bank.
There's signs of docks and several semi tractor trailers with other vehicles scattered about. It looks very clean and organized. At the front entrance are what look like powered steel gates and the entire area is enclosed or seems to be enclosed with a modern chain link fence. Not enough resolution from Street View to read the small red lettered signs but I assume they are something about no trespassing and legal penalties for trespassing.
So, for the most part, some sort of installation being there according to my friend checks out.
So, I have more questions. Why completely cover what ever was there? Why move the earth around and then carefully smooth it out? Erosion control? It seems odd they would just do that one area simply for erosion. Anyway, that's all I have right now. Someone would need to do a property title search to know more or at least do a drive by and see what signage is available.
