For the folks putting any real credence in these 'snow that turns black and does not melt' videos... how old are you? Totally serious... I see this exact same story every 5 or 6 years. I could see that the first time you see this this seems weird... the fifth or sixth time you see this over the course of 20 years... FFS, Not this shit again. If you are a 20yo... ok, I'll try to be patient. If you are 40+ you really should have been around this block. I feel like I should set a 5 year timer to remind myself to make a stupid black snow video and win a bunch of fake internet points on social media.
To all of the folks that are seeing this for the first time this is really simple.
ALMOST ALL FIRE COMES FROM BURNING A HYDROCARBON FUEL.
BURNING HYDROCARBONS LEAVES A CARBON RESIDUE NO MATTER HOW "CLEAN" THE FUEL IS.
CARBON RESIDUE IS BLACK.
CARBON RESIDUE IS A GREAT INSULATOR AND SLOWS THE MELTING PROCESS.
