I have a buddy that works in the energy industry that has nothing good to say about wind farms.
Yes, cold will shut them down, among other things. He's got a list of stuff that will shut them down that just makes you wonder what the point of windmills is.
So, I don't know how much is hype and how much is bad engineering.
Windmills are great, IF you are a farmer wanting a windmill or 2 to supplement power consumed off grid.
They simply are not well suited for grid generation. Same with solar.
With both wind and solar, outside of some geographical exceptions, really aren't reliable enough for a grid that needs 99.9% uptime.
I know many that have worked for Blattner Energy for nearly 20yrs. They were told yesterday early to go home and stay home. First power cut was 5pm cst then the majority of the State crashed at 2am. Those turbines couldnt have possibly frozen in less than 48 hrs in 15-20° weather
Only 15-20? Here, I thought they were dealing with the subzero stuff we are in Colorado. That definitely sounds hinky, then.
Im here, proof is there. ALL BULLSHIT
