I still doesn't make sense. If an official has committed crimes, then it is a case for the justice system. Only if the official is part of the justice system or even leads it, it makes sense to remove him first so he cannot misuse his power to avoid the litigation. That's what impeachment is made for.

Folks who would never consider actual war to save their kids like to make up fantasy stories about how it's all about to get fixed by some secret superhero. It doesn't matter if the story doesn't make sense; that's not the point. The point is to calm them down so they can sleep easy.
