Hackers Tried to Poison Florida city’s Water Supply with Lye- Suburb of Tampa Bay - News Conference

https://youtu.be/MkXDSOgLQ6M

A hacker recently tried to poison a Florida city’s water supply, police announced Monday.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said someone remotely accessed a computer system that controls the City of Oldsmar’s water treatment facility on Friday.

The unidentified person increased the amount of sodium hydroxide being distributed into the city’s drinking water to a “dangerous” level, Gualtieri said at a press conference.

The chemical, also known as lye, is used in small amounts to control the water’s acidity — but can be deadly if ingested in large quantities.

A worker at the plant immediately noticed the change and reversed it, the sheriff said.

“The amount of sodium hydroxide that got in was minimal and was reversed quickly,” Gualtieri said.

City officials on Monday stressed that other safeguards in place would have prevented the contaminated water from reaching the town’s 15,000 residents.

Officials said they have also disabled the remote-access system used in the attack.

“At no time was there a significant adverse effect on the water being treated,” the sheriff said. “Importantly, the public was never in danger.”

Yes, reminds me of when the CIA dosed a whole village in France with LSD! The villagers went mad, and 7 died from this "experiment".

CIA: What Really Happened in the quiet French village of Pont-Saint-Esprit

by Hank P. Albarelli Jr.

A U.S. journalist, who was investigating the Cold War mind-control experiments conducted by the CIA, came across some documents relating to an obscure episode in France that was never elucidated. He alleges that in 1951 the CIA was testing for a secret weapon: the aerosol spraying of LSD. The experiment was reportedly carried out in a French village, whose inhabitants and authorities were kept completely in the dark. But it went wrong and caused the death of 7 people.

We asked Hank Albarelli to provide a summary of his investigation for the readers of Voltaire Network.

On 13 February 2010, French channel 3 broadcast "The Devil’s Bread", a television film by Bertrand Arthuys which meticulously reconstructs the Pont-Saint-Esprit episode. It describes the madness that seized the village, the suspicions surrounding the bread baker and the interest of certain French officials to cover up certain aspects. But it ends with a question mark: sixty years later, the causes of the intoxication still remain a mystery!
