This isn’t even a normal happenstance in locations that have much less population to draw from & much more in the way of factors that could potentially cripple a local economy. Quite a few Masonic Lodges have had this problem over the years, and have had to either rent themselves out or sell the property. Property taxes have become extremely high in the areas they built the first temples in North American cities, and memberships have declined.
